One of the hardest things for me to cope with an realize when we had Lucy was that although I couldn't feed the child and in many cases I couldn't soothe her, just helping Rachel do those things and staying awake with her for some crazy-time feedings (3 am was invented by satan), really made Rachel feel like I was contributing, even though it didn't seem to me like I was.
Soak up as much time as you possibly can of Pene Lu now because in three years she will have a mind of her own, her own ideas of whether she wants to hang with you or not, and these first years really have an impact on how your daughter views you as a parent, father, friend, gentleman, and human.
